NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- John Palomino admits that for most of his life, he was ashamed and embarrassed to talk about his father, who committed suicide when he was 6-years-old. And so, the New Rochelle native put his efforts into a movie that deals with the topic.
"Man of the House," premiering at the Pelham Picture House Saturday, May 6, was filmed in and around New Rochelle and Mount Vernon, with nods to Mamaroneck, to mirror exactly what happened to him 24 years ago.

HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. -- Caleb Flood can’t remember a time in his life where he wasn’t fascinated by music.
As a toddler, the Hastings resident would put on performances for his family and beat on a drum set made of pots and pans. He started taking piano at five but by eight had moved onto the guitar.
Now, you can find the 19-year-old traveling the world belting out original songs and playing a range of instruments, including the guitar, piano, bass, and drums. (He can also play ukulele, harmonica, and a few other random instruments.)

Lucky Is The SPCA Of Westchester's Pet Of The Week
BRIARCLIFF MANOR, N.Y. -- A "friendly, playful" 1-year-old dog with tons of puppy energy has been named the SPCA of Westchester's Pet of the Week.
Lucky, a "happy girl" who "always has a smile on her face," is great with people and other dogs, but does not get along well with cats, according to the SPCA, which said she would do well in a home with children no younger than 12 years old.
While friendly, Lucky is still working on her basic obedience, according to the SPCA, which said that she requires an owner who "is around more often than not."

Valhalla Native Sings For Pope Francis
VALHALLA, N.Y. -- Several Stonehill College students, including Valhalla native Peter Giannini, sang for Pope Francis as part of the Stonehill Chapel Choir's seven-day pilgrimage to Italy.
The honor of singing for the Pope came as part of a weeklong pilgrimage to Italy for 32 Stonehill students, three alumni, three college staff, and 17 family members.
In addition to the performance for the Pope, the choir, which is known for its joyful liturgical music, provided music for Mass in St. Peter's Basilica and a concert at the San Lorenzo International Youth Center, according to a release from …
