Busy Northern Westchester Street Will Be Closed For Six Days

Italian culture will be at the forefront in Yorktown next week, as officials prepare for the popular annual Yorktown Feast of San Gennaro, leading to lane closures in the area.

Yorktown Police Chief Robert Noble announced that from 7 a.m. through noon beginning on Wednesday, Sept. 12, Commerce Street will be closed until Monday, Sept. 17. During the festivities, there will be no vehicular traffic between Downing Drive and Kear Street.

Highlights of the five-day event included: traditional Italian foods such as zeppoles and sausage and pepper, a ferris wheel, red, green and white light arches, a procession with a statue of the saint, and performances from live bands.
