PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – The Pace University men’s and women’s basketball teams will play their respective home openers Wednesday when they host Le Moyne College at the Goldstein Fitness Center.

The women’s team will play first at 5:30 p.m. and the men will follow at 7:30 p.m.

Graduate student Brittany Shields leads the women’s team into the 2012-13 season. She averaged 17 points and 10 rebounds per game last season and earned Northeast-10 Conference First Team All-Conference honors. The women’s team finished 20-9 last season and 16-6 in conference.

It will be the 29th meeting between Pace and Le Moyne. The Setters have won five of the last six meetings and split two games with the Dolphins last season.

The Setters will play their first game of the season, while Le Moyne is 1-0 this year.

The men’s team opened its season with two wins in the Nyack College Tournament. The Setters defeated Nyack, 77-54, and then earned a 60-59 victory against No. 21 Bloomfield College when Denzel Primus-Devonish hit a three pointer at the buzzer.

It will be the 46th meeting between Pace and Le Moyne and the Setters lead the all-time series, 28-17. The Setters and Dolphins split their two meetings last season as each team won on its home court.

Jonathan Merceus leads the men’s team with 19.5 points and 3.5 rebounds in the Setters’ first two games. Keon Williams has added 16 points and his 8.5 rebounds per game lead the team.
