BRIARCLIFF MANOR, N.Y. -- Briarcliff Middle School’s MATHCOUNTS team placed fourth during the recent Westchester/Putnam regional competition at Pace University.
“In the team round, our students worked together so wonderfully,” said advisor Svetlana Ryzhik.
Led by captain Andrew Kanovsky, along with Daniel de Castro, Daniel Deng and Michael Tu, the Briarcliff team showcased its talent among 17 other area private and public schools.
“Andrew and Michael had the highest scores on our team, 32 out of a possible 46,” said Ryzhik. “Our supportive team members were Vasu Gupta, Chris Li, Matt Li, Ari Mirski, Joe Murray and Sydney Zhang, who all had solid performances, especially for sixth-graders. I am very proud of our kids.”
