Briarcliff Honors Board Of Education

BRIARCLIFF, N.Y. -- It's not often that the people working to get things done are noticed publicly, but that's what happened on Oct. 19 when the District and Briarcliff Manor's PTAs and administration thanked the Board of Education for their dedication to the students of the district.

The District Board of Education was honored by the Briarcliff PTA and administration for their work on behalf of the district's students.

“Tonight we not only recognize and appreciate our school board members, we also honor them,” said PTA President Izel Obermeyer. “We see and hear you at the Board meetings, whether in person or on our televisions, and very few of us truly appreciate how much work goes into preparing for those meetings. So tonight is our turn to tell you that we are truly thankful to have five such dedicated individuals serving our school district.”

The recognition was in advance of School Board Recognition Week which begins Oct. 26.

The PTA hosted a reception for the five-member board before the evening’s regular meeting: “I think I speak for all members when I say that we’re proud to represent this community and provide our children with the high-quality education they deserve,” said Board President Michael Habermas “We are part of a team that works together.”

During the regular meeting, Superintendent of Schools James Kaishian presented a proclamation to the Board and presented each member with a pen/stylus in recognition of their hard work and dedication to the district.

“There isn’t anything more under-appreciated in terms of efforts involved and its importance as public service,” said Kaishian. “We have five tremendously talented, dedicated and committed community members who volunteer their time to make our schools wonderful places to learn for all who enter the buildings each day. The community should be proud of the work they do and the student outcomes we realize each and every day.”
