Daniel Busby, 88, White Plains WWII Vet, Finance Manager

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – Daniel W. Busby, a longtime White Plains resident, died Dec. 1 at his home in West Palm Beach, Fla, following a prolonged illness. He was 88.

Born Oct. 28, 1924, in the Bay Ridge section of Brooklyn, Busby graduated from Brooklyn Technical High School. He served in the Marine Corps during World War II and graduated from St. John’s University.

He spent three decades as a finance manager at General Foods in White Plains and received a Master's of Business Administration degree from Iona College. After retiring from General Foods, Busby worked at the American Red Cross in White Plains for nearly a decade.

Busby was a longtime congregant of St. John the Evangelist Church in White Plains, where he served as a Eucharistic minister. He later became a parishioner of the Cathedral of St. Ignacious Loyola in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.

He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus in White Plains and later in West Palm Beach. He also volunteered as a treasurer with the Boy Scouts of America in White Plains and Catholic Widows and Widowers of Scarsdale.

Busby is survived by his wife, Nancy Satalich Busby; six children, Dan (Joyce) Busby of Ashburn, Va., Robert (Cheryl) Busby of Stamford, Conn., Margaret Busby of White Plains, John (Suzanne) Busby of Ridgefield, Conn., Tom (Denise) Busby of Berkeley Heights, N.J., and Stephen (Kate) Busby of Pleasantville; and 12 grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his first wife and mother of his children, Regina Kelly Busby; his second and third wives, Mary Wynn Busby and Rosemary McLoone Busby; and a grandson, Jonathan Busby.

Visitation is from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at John J. Fox Funeral Home in Larchmont. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at Church of the Holy Innocents in Pleasantville.
