Daniel Vargas, 29, was arrested on Thursday, Nov. 7 for a third-degree burglary charge following an investigation of an incident that occurred on Sunday, Sept. 22. Employees at CubeSmart, located on Crompond Road, originally alerted police of the incident, police said.

The investigation revealed several of the storage units at the facility had been broken into and the contents were removed, however, police have yet to identify what the items were. Detectives used surveillance video from the facility and processed it so other police departments in the investigation could use it, police said.

Police said Vargas was also arrested by the Tuchahoe Police Department on Oct. 4 on various unrelated charges. During their investigation, it was discovered he was involved in the burglaries at the Yorktown CubeSmart.

After appearing in Yorktown Justice Court on Nov. 7, Vargas was arraigned and sent to Westchester County jail without bail. He is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Town Court on Thursday, Nov. 21.
