BRIARCLIFF MANOR, N.Y. -- Briarcliff Police Chief Norman Campion, who was suspended last year for reasons that have never been made public, has retired, according to a report by lohud.com
The Daily Voice reported in November that Campion was suspended in November and replaced by Lt. Donald Gorey.
The following month, the village’s Board of Trustees approved a settlement with a police department employee to avoid the cost, time, and risks of hearings and negotiations, according to the Daily Voice article.
According to a report by News12, village officials have refused to say why Campion was suspended in the first place, calling it a personnel matter.
However, Village Manager Philip Zegarelli has confirmed that Campion retired on Dec. 31, the lohud article said.
