Several Injured, Including Two State Troopers, In Crash That Caused I-84 Closure

Several people were injured during a crash on I-84 in Putnam County, including two New York State Police troopers.

The incident took place around 5:50 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18 in the eastbound lane of the interstate, just east of Exit 17 in the Town of Kent, when the trooper's vehicle was rear-ended while conducting a vehicle and traffic stop, said Trooper AJ Hicks.

"Two troopers were in the vehicle sustained minor injuries only," said Hicks. "Occupants of the stopped vehicle and the offending vehicle were injured."

One person suffered severe but non-life threatening injuries, he added.

I-84 was closed from 5:50 to 9:30 p.m.as the crash was investigated.
