Law Park Tops Village Manager's Report

BRIARCLIFF, N.Y. -- Teardown for the Law Park pavilion's super structure will begin later this week, according to Village Manager Philip E. Zegarelli’s latest report.

The village had a mobilization meeting with the demolition company over the teardown. Work will primarily include the recently-burned pavilion's super structure, major additional cleanup, enhanced safety barriers and protective measure for the remaining portions. 

After teardown, the next phase will be receiving bids for the rehab of the lower level pool facilities. Bids are due Feb. 16. 

An independent engineering company verified that the pavilion floor remains structurally sound without compromise after the December fire.

The pool and summer camp are expected to be fully up and running before the Memorial Day opening.

Library

Kids can make a necklace, bracelet, pin or keychain at the Wearable Art Crafts program in the Children's Program Room on Feb. 18 from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. No registration is required. Children under 6 must have an adult helper at all times.

A presentation on "Your Rights as a Patient in NYS: What You Need to Know Before Going Into a Hospital" will be held Feb. 22 from 2 to 3 p.m.

The nonfiction book group will meet to discuss "One Summer: America, 1927" by Bill Bryson on March 6 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Copies of the book are now available at the library.

The photography exhibit "Up Close & Far Away" will run until Feb. 29. The exhibit features the work of Susan Cember and Heidi Fuhrman and uses closeups and vistas, peculiar perspectives and far-away places to celebrate parts of everyday life that may be missed.

Recreation and Parks

Platform tennis is ready for play. 

2016 day camp programs will run from July 5 through August 5 this summer for children entering kindergarten through 9th grade.

A new multi-sport camp will be available for kids in grades 4-6 in addition to the traditional day camps and travel camp program for grades 7-9. 

More camp details will be available in early March.

Spring and Summer Programs are also in the last stages of planning, and all will be included in the village's next seasonal brochure available in early March. 

Mayor and Board of Trustees

The next W/S and M/BOT Meetings are Feb. 17 at 7 p.m. and 8 p.m., respectively. 

There may be need for an Executive Session.
