A Winter Storm Advisory has been issued and will be in effect from 1 a.m. until 10 a.m. Friday for the Lower Hudson Valley, including Westchester, Putnam and Rockland, where snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches are expected, according to the National Weather Service. Localized higher amounts are possible. Higher amounts are projected farther east. (See projected snowfall total image above.)

Rain is expected to mix with snow early Friday morning, becoming all snow by daybreak, impacting the morning commute, the National Weather service said.

Overnight accumulation of around an inch is expected with new accumulation of 1-3 inches expected after dawn. Snow is expected to end around 10 a.m., followed by clearing skies and a high temperature of around 38 degrees Friday.

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow, sleet or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties.

Be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibilities and use caution while driving, the National Weather Service advises.
