BRIARCLIFF MANOR, N.Y. The village recreation department's Family Fun Night has been postponed until July 15 due to predicted thunderstorms.
According to The Weather Channel, there is an 80 percent chance of rain tonight with thunderstorms expected early in the evening.
Family Fun Night is a long-held Briarcliff tradition during which children and parents compete in running, swimming and ice-cream eating races and more. Points and award ribbons are given out throughout the night and at the end of the evening the two highest-scoring families receive plaques.
The event was scheduled to start at 6 p.m. Friday but is now planned for next Friday at 6 p.m. at the Law Park pool and adjacent field.
The village pool is scheduled to be open until 7:30 p.m. Friday and from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
