PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. Paces baseball team took Rollins College to extra innings but ultimately fell, 4-3, to the Tars on Wednesday.
Rollins (15-6) got on the board quickly with a run in the first inning, but Pace (5-5) tied it in the second after Brandon Martineson doubled and Charlie Galasso singled to drive him home.
Pace moved ahead in the fourth inning on a solo homer from Martineson. They scored again in the fifth when Galasso doubled and moved to third base after a sacrifice bunt. Bobby Horn squeeze bunted to bring him across home plate.
But Rollins fought back with a run in the fifth inning and another in the ninth to tie the game and send it to extra innings. The Tars loaded the bases in the 10th inning and scored to complete the comeback.
Neil Pezzullo threw four and one-third innings for Pace and gave up two runs, one earned, and five hits while striking out four batters. Jonathan Hornung tossed five innings and also gave up two runs, one earned, and five hits. He took the loss and is now 0-1 this season.
Pace continues its stay at Rollins College in Winter Park, Fla., with a game against C.W. Post on Thursday.
