Ossining Spartans Swim Year-End Championships

YONKERS, N.Y. – The Ossining Spartans Swim Team completed its successful winter  season with a strong showing Monday at the Westchester-Fairfield Swim League Championships at Yonkers Montessori Academy’s Mark Twain pool.

The Spartans finished fifth overall, with four swimmers earning all-around awards in their age groups.

Stella Meyerhoeffer was awarded the Highpoint Award as the all-around top swimmer in the girls’ 8-and-Under age class — her second straight age-group award.

Meyerhoeffer had top finishes in both the WFSL and USA Swimming League, swimming to three first-place finishes in the 8-Under 100-yard Individual Medley (1:23:08), the 25-yard backstroke (17:64), and the 25 breaststroke (20:35). She joined Emily Rocco, Gabby Santana and Lilly Pawliczak in winning the 100-yard medley relay in 1:17:81.

Rocco made the Junior Olympics in USA swimming in four events, a first for the Spartans. Rocco received the second-place all-around award in the girls 8-Under class for her first-place finishes in the 25 freestyle (16:34) and the 25 butterfly (17:06). Meyerhoeffer placed second in the league in the 25 back (18:03).

Nico San Martin took second overall among boys' 12-Under for his blue-ribbon finishes in the 50 free (27:06) and the 50 butterfly (31:25) and his second-place finish in the 200 IM (2:33:14). He joined Thomas Overacker, Joe DiBenedetto and Alex Carrazzone Nico to take first place in the 200 free relay, winning handily in 2:02:81.

Katie Flynn took third overall in the girls’ 12-Under and second in the county in the 200 IM (2:42:84) and the 50 butterfly (33:40). She took third in the 50 free (27:36) and joined teammates Emma San Martin, Maggie Dymes and Sammy Englebracht to place third in the 200 medley relay (2:16:88).

Coach Mike Kane invites swimmers to train with and compete on the Ossining Spartan team at the Joseph G. Caputo Community Center pool in Ossining. Interested swimmers may drop by the pool, visit or inquire at .
