The former Mount Vernon HIgh School star and Section 1 Mr. Basketball was selected in the second round of the NBA Draft by the Sacramento Kings with the 59th overall pick.

A 6-foot-6 shooting guard, Cousins, who was Section 1's MVP (known as "Mr. Basketball") his senior year at Mount Vernon, was a four-year starter for the University of Oklahoma, helping the Sooners to the Final Four in 2016.

Cousins averaged 12.6 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists in his senior year at Oklahoma.

He is known for his strong 3-point shooting (finishing 41 percent this past season from beyond the arc) and also his ability to also play point guard.

As a second round pick, Cousins' chances of making the team and being offered a contract this fall are uncertain, but he will have a chance to increase his chances if he performances well in Las Vegas for the Kings' Summer League team.

Cousins overcame a scare that occurred in May 2014 when he was hit by a stray bullet after being caught in the crossfire of a shootout between two rival gangs. Cousins was reportedly an innocent bystander with a group of friends when the shootout began.
