PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – The man who inspired the classic football movie "Rudy" will speak at Pace University next week as a guest of the Athletic Department.

Daniel “Rudy” Ruettiger will discuss falling into the trap of chasing money instead of his dream. He will appear at the university’s Goldstein Health, Fitness and Recreation Center on Wednesday, Sept. 5, at 7 p.m.

After his talk, Ruettiger will sign his book, "Rudy: My Story," which details his journey to Notre Dame, where his teammates carried him off the field in his final game.

The book also details Ruettiger’s struggles to get a movie made about his life.

“I fell into the same obvious trap that the rest of the country had fallen into in all of those boom years: I shouldn’t have been chasing the money,” Ruettiger said. “I should have been chasing the dream. It was one of the most profound, simple, important lessons I would ever learn, and the consequences of that lesson would haunt me for years.”

The free event is open to the public.
