BRIARCLIFF, N.Y. -- Offense was in high gear last week for Putnam Valley and Briarcliff as both teams scored 30 points or more in their respective wins. The defenses will be tested Saturday when the teams meet for a 1:30 p.m. kick off.
Antonio Martinez ran for 179 yards and three touchdowns last week as Putnam Valley crushed Pleasantville, 30-0. The Tigers roared in the second half, scoring 24 points. Brian Sillery led the defense with eight tackles, including a sack. Putnam Valley had three sacks and two interceptions.
It was the Ryan Hooper-Jackson Plimpton show last week for the Bears, who held off Irvington, 32-29. Hooper aired it out for 266 yards and three scores. Plimpton caught four passes, three going for touchdowns. Briarcliffs special teams, specifically Jonathan Marrero, had an impact. Marrero had an 83-yard kick-off return for a touchdown and a 28-yard punt return, setting up a short drive.
