Briarcliff Boys Basketball Looks To Rebound At Greeley

BRIARCLIFF, N.Y. – The Briarcliff High School boys’ basketball team resumes its schedule with a non-league match-up at Horace Greeley at 6:45 p.m. Friday.

The Bears stubbed their toes Sunday with a 54-38 loss to Byram Hills at Manhattan College. Still, Briarcliff is 9-2 this year and has emerged as the team to beat in Section 1 Class B.

Big man Brian Daniels has led the way for Briarcliff this season. The 6-4 senior struggled against the Bobcats, who held him to 14 points and five rebounds, but that game was an anomaly all around for the Bears.

Prior to that, Daniels had scored 29, 32, 18, 24 and 16 points.

Daniels’ defense has also been excellent for much of the season. Even in the loss to Byram Hills, he managed to force the Bobcats’ 6-7 center Andrew Groll into three fouls in the first quarter.

The game against Greeley will feature the match-up of Daniels and Quakers big man Harrison Brown. The 6-4 senior has scored 13, 28, 30, 20, 17, 28, 12, 25 and 20 points in nine games this year. The Quakers are 2-7 in those games.

If Daniels and the Bears can box out Brown and keep him in check, then Briarcliff has a solid chance to rebound from its loss to Byram Hills.
