Pennacchio will receive an engraved bronze medallion for organizing two book donation programs, Twice Loved Books and Donate a Book in Honor of Your Graduate, that yielded hundreds of books to expand the collection at her local library. Pennacchio also organized two used-book sales, which raised more than $9,000 to support the library as well as provided hundreds of books to local charities.

"Working for our local community is the highest achievement for any local citizen. I am inspired to see that at such a young age, Caroline Pennacchio understands the importance of volunteerism and strives to make a difference each and every day in our community," Carlucci said in a statement.

The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards, created in 1995 by Prudential Financial in partnership with the National Association of Secondary School Principals, are designed to emphasize the importance our nation places on service to others and to encourage all young Americans to contribute to their communities.
