The students -- from Ossining High School, Iona Preparatory School, Briarcliff High School and Sleepy Hollow High School -- also viewed the film “Watchers of the Sky,” a 2014 American documentary that depicts the journey of lawyer Raphael Lemkin and his efforts in lobbying the United Nations to establish the Genocide Convention.
The group not only heard Moreno-Ocampo, who has prosecuted some of the world’s leading war criminals, but they also met Elizabeth Bohart, one of the film’s producers.
“Watchers of the Sky” won two awards last year at the Sundance Festival.
Following the chief justice’s talk, students participated in a discussion with Moreno-Ocampo about his work on the international court.
