BRIARCLIFF, N.Y. -- Briarcliff High School senior Elizabeth Kanovsky hasn't decided yet where she will go to college next year but one thing has been settled for her. She has been named the valedictorian for the class of 2013.
"My time at BHS has been really good, and so many teachers have helped me adapt to and learn from the new challenges that students are faced with,” she said in a statement.
Kanovsky is interested in math and said she plans to major in math and economics. Where is still undecided though she has already been accepted to University of Southern California and the University of Chicago.
Kanovsky performs with the BHS orchestra, playing the cello at NYSSMA and other local concerts and festivals. She is also a dancer and a member of the Steffi Nossen Group in White Plains. She performs locally at benefit recitals and for local senior citizens and other good causes.
In addition to her music and math, Kanovsky is president of the BHS Poetry Society and enjoys reading, with a personal love for Harry Potter books and young authors such as John Green.
