Four Briarcliff Seniors Named National Merit Semifinalists

BRIARCLIFF, N.Y. -- Briarcliff High School has four National Merit Semifinalists out of 16,000 nationwide.

Seniors, Megan Ho, Samantha Manimala, Alexandra Schoepke and Sophie Underwood earned this recognition in the 2017 National Merit Scholarship competition. 

The students are among one percent of United States high school seniors who are continuing in the competition for 7,500 National Merit Scholarships.

High school students enter the National Merit Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).

Winners will be announced in April and July. 

Additionally, Anoushka Chaudhari, Rekha Crawford, Julia Duffy, Komal Keerthy, Patrick Prendergast and Benjamin Shi received Letters of Commendation in recognition of their outstanding academic promise by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, said the release.
