BRIARCLIFF MANOR, N.Y. -- Folk musician Tom Chapin and his bandmates brought fun and lively music to Todd Elementary School and taught students sign language on Wednesday, Feb. 4.
“We will be learning about the environment through music,” Principal Nadine McDermott told students before the show.
Chapin introduced students to a number of unique instruments, including an accordion, Irish flute, harp and banjo, and sang songs such as “Don’t Miss the Bus” and “Clean Machine.” He also encouraged students to think about recycling, shoveling snow and accepting people of diverse backgrounds in “Family Tree.”
During this song, he taught students sign language for words in the chorus such as “great-great-grandfather,” “family” and more.
