In a message Thursday from Interim Superintendent of School Dan McCann, parent's were told that the vehicle and driver had been identified and the "attempted luring" on Roaring Brook Road appears to have been a misunderstanding.
He also said: "While this particular incident has seemingly come to a close, it is always a good idea to remind your children about the potential dangers of interacting with strangers."
The misunderstanding took place a middle-aged man offered an 11-year-old girl a ride to school on Wednesday morning.
According to police, at approximately 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, the girl, who was waiting for her school bus, was approached by a man in a black SUV who told her that he thought she missed her bus and offered her a ride to school.
The girl declined the ride and the man sped off. The student reported the event to school officials.
