BRIARCLIFF MANOR – For three days this weekend, Briarcliff Manor will transform into River City, Iowa, as the Briarcliff High School drama department puts on its spring musical performance of "The Music Man."

Ian Driver, director of the play, said the theme of coming together in the story is reflected in the production, which includes students from multiple grades and schools.

"This small town is truly transformed as residents of all ages work together on a musical that lifts them from their daily routine and brings a sense of joy and camaraderie," Driver said.

Members of the high school drama program who are participating in the play will be joined by fourth-graders from Todd Elementary School. The elementary school students will play the role of the River City Marching Band.

"The Music Man" is the story of Harold Hill, who comes to River City to sell the idea of a marching band solely to con the residents and steal their money. Hill's plan goes awry when he falls in love with the town librarian and ends up bringing joy to the town in the form of music. Briarcliff High School senior Dan Levine will play the lead role of Hill and said he was excited to bring a similar joy to the residents of Briarcliff.

"People have come to expect a fantastic performance and a great time at our plays," Levine said. "We won't disappoint."

"The Music Man" will premiere at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Performances will also be done at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday. All performances will take place in the Briarcliff High School auditorium, and tickets are $15. Tickets and backstage passes can be purchased online prior to the show.
