The presentation was made to Jill Leonowicz, senior manager of community events, and Caleb Williams, Relay for Life specialist, both of whom are Eastern Division/Westchester County American Cancer Society ambassadors.
The sum was raised in a single afternoon, thanks to the efforts of the middle school clubs that participated in December’s holiday boutique.
“We are very proud of these students who are helping with the fight against cancer,” said Ms. Leonowicz in a statement. “The money will provide programs and services for cancer patients in Westchester.”
“It was really fun to raise the money,” added student Austyn Richter, a member of the International Club, “and it was all for a good cause.”
Mr. Williams spoke about his involvement with the Relay for Life program and encouraged the Briarcliff community to take part in the event which raises more than $400 million every year.
Relay teams camp out overnight and take turns walking around the track at a local high school or park, being sure to have at least one member walking at all times.
