BRIARCLIFF MANOR, N.Y. – The Briarcliff Parent Teacher Association is looking for a few good detectives.

The organization is hosting a Murder Mystery Night fundraiser Thursday, March 22. The event features prizes, raffles, food, drink and a little bit of “murder.” Actors with Murder Mystery Company are set to lead residents on an interactive murder mystery complete with costumes, clues and a fake death from “someone well-known in the school.” The fundraiser features an '80s theme, said event chair Laura Maglietta, but an open mind is the only necessary item.

“It’s just a fun night and a chance to get together with the community and have a few laughs,” Maglietta said. “We wanted to do something that would be a fun, relaxed thing. But if someone has some bad '80s attire and want to wear it, go ahead, because it will be fun.”

Tickets to the 7 p.m. fundraiser at the Mansion at Rosecliff cost $60. While residents are encouraged to register ahead of time, Maglietta said the group plans to sell tickets at the door the night of the event.

The Briarcliff Parent Teacher Association is a “child advocacy group” with more than 100 volunteers that “strives to enrich the education of Briarcliff Manor students, build strong partnerships between teachers and parents and foster school and community spirit,” Maglietta wrote in an e-mail.

There is no fundraising goal for the Murder Mystery Night, but Maglietta said she expects the event to be the PTA’s biggest fundraiser of the year.

“Anything we bring in is good, but this will be our big event this year definitely,” she said. “We want people to have fun while they help us out and benefit the community. And of course, if people just want to watch and not actually be a part of the show, that’s fine, it’s all voluntary. Our focus is making sure everyone just has a fun, relaxing evening.”

Those interested in registering for the event, or those looking for more information, are asked to order online or by e-mail at mmheyman2@aol.com.
