The middle school science and engineering team took part in the Expo's 2016 Rube Goldberg machine contest and used toys to open the weather accessory in 11 steps, according to a statement from the school district. The team members took home first place for their efforts.

Rube Goldberg's granddaughter was on hand to award the contest winners at the April 3 event.

With the contest win, the Briarcliff Middle School team qualifies for the national Rube Goldberg machine contest.
