Briarcliff Middle School Mathletes Earn Honors At Competition

BRIARCLIFF MANOR, N.Y. -- Briarcliff Middle School’s mathletes received Merit Roll recognition for their participation in the recent American Mathematics Competition.

 “Our team score (the sum of our top three individual scores) of 52 out of a possible 75 placed our school on the Merit Roll,” said club adviser Svetlana Ryzhik.

Several BMS mathletes also earned individual recognition in the competition. Joseph Murray and Vasu Gupta both were named to the AMC Honor Roll, scoring in the top 5 percent nationally out of more than 144,000 participants.

Murray earned a score of 20 out of 25, and Gupta posted a score of 17. Additionally, Lucas Martin was named to the Achievement Roll for his high score as a sixth-grade student.
