“The dance concert will feature eight pieces that are all student-made work,” said dance Teacher Diane Guida.

One special dance, titled “The Change,” was inspired by a piece of choreography Guida produced 25 years ago for a teen dance company. This year, a Briarcliff student group made up of nearly all ninth-grade students, worked to draw inspiration from the piece and make it their own in sync with a song by Peter Gabriel.

The students said they connected with the theme of the dance and used their own emotions to bring it to life. “It’s about connecting with one another and looking for acceptance,” said freshman Sierra Beauzile.

The concert will feature students of all levels and a variety of styles of dance.

“I am very proud of how well they connected with the dances,” said Guida.

The event will take place at 7:30 p.m. on April 9 and 2:30 p.m. on April 10. Tickets are currently on sale at showtix4u.com for $12 general admission. Tickets are $15 at the door and $10 for senior citizens. For non-profit group sales, please contact Diane Guida at dguida@briarcliffschools.org
