“Briarcliff's A team was the only team to go undefeated through Saturday's preliminary seven rounds,” said team adviser Desmond Groarke. “Returning to the finals on Sunday, Briarcliff again was undefeated and captured the title for the third year in a row.”

This “threepeat” is unprecedented in the tournament’s 26-year history, according to the Briarcliff Manor school district.

The winning team was composed of Ryan Klarnet (captain), Alex Jacobs, Feroze Mohideen and Tommy Praeger.

In addition to the win, Klarnet received a trophy for second-highest number of points scored in the league and for the season; Mohideen secured one for fourth place.

The Academic Challenge A and B teams will next head to Washington, D.C., for national competitions, from June 2-5.
