According to the judge's commentary, "[Briars & Ivy] should be commended for putting together such a professional-looking book. It was a pleasure to read. The pages flowed; visuals were appealing and added to the works. [...] This is just a great, sophisticated book."

Senior Jessica Daneshvar and alumni Tamar Honig, who serve as co-editors-in-chief, put the 2013 volume of "Briars & Ivy" together. English teacher Karen McCarthy is the magazine's adviser.
