BRIARCLIFF MANOR, N.Y. Here's what voters in Briarcliff Manor will see on the ballot when they go to the polls on Election Day, Nov. 6.
There are no races or proposals from the Village of Briarcliff Manor. Residents living in the Town of Ossining will have one issue on the ballot. Residents located in Mount Pleasant and the Town of Ossining will choose among candidates for president, Congress and state offices, plus a Westchester County judge.
The Town of Ossining Board voted unanimously in August to adopt a local law to change its highway superintendent from an elected position to an appointed one. But Ossining voters in the unincorporated part of the town will ultimately decide on the law on Nov. 6 when it is put on the ballot. If voters approve the change, the law would not take effect until Jan. 1, 2014.
Ossining voters will also decide on the state Senate seat in the new 38th District. Janis Castaldi, a former Democratic member of the Ossining Town Council, is running against Democrat David Carlucci for the 38th District seat. Castaldi is running as a Republican. In the state Assembly's newly redrawn 95th District, incumbent Sandy Galef (D-Ossining) is being challenged by Republican Kim Izzarelli of Briarcliff Manor.
In Mount Pleasant, voters will decide between Republican incumbent Greg Ball or Democratic newcomer Justin Wagner for the 40th District state Senate seat. Assemblyman Thomas Abinanti, a Democrat, is running unopposed in his bid for a second term representing the 92nd District.
Absentee ballots may be obtained at the Mount Pleasant town clerks office or in the Ossining town clerks office.
