On Thursday, state prosecutors announced that DeBlasio would not be indicted in a corruption probe over his campaign finance practices. Murphy said he was disappointed DeBlasio would not be indicted.

A complaint from Murphy originally launched the probe against DeBlasio, as DeBlasio helped raise money for the Putnam County Democratic Committee in an unsuccessful attempt to defeat Murphy in a senate race in 2014 and give the senate back to the Democrats.

"Prosecuting authorities said earlier today that these actions were contrary to the intent and spirit of the laws that impose candidate contribution limits," Murphy said.

Murphy called for legislation to update campaign finance laws, and the bill is pending in the Senate awaiting a vote.
