CLEVELAND, Ohio -- What a day Tuesday was. Said hi to Donald Trump Jr. at breakfast, warm greeting. He would finish the day by delivering what many have called the best speech of the night.

Made Ted Koppel and Carl Bernstein pose together for a photo on Radio Row, tweeted it. Said hi to Dan Rather in the elevator. Literally bumped into Jeff Greenfield walking with Dave Barry on 4th Street.

Entered private hallway where Joni Ernst was deeply involved in conversation, and almost collided with Mike Pence on the way out of a suite, but he was amply protected by security everywhere.

Had private tete a tete with Tim Daly, president of the Creative Coalition, during a lunch which included Billy Baldwin, Wendie Malick and Harry Hamlin. Support the arts? I'm there. The interview is already on iTunes.

ATT is giving out free ice cream to all media on Radio Row. Thank you!

Spent two hours on the convention floor. CT and NY never had it so good. Front row seats directly adjacent to the podium. Ridgefield’s John Frey named Sergeant at Arms, an official designation denoting the clout of the CT delegation. Small in number, large in stature. Huge hug with my buddy Richard Moccia, former Mayor of Norwalk, now active in Ridgefield politics. Can’t keep a good man down, despite an awful year battling cancer. Jim Campbell there too, former head of Greenwich RTC. General sentiment of the delegation is that although Trump wasn’t everyone’s first choice, he’s now the best choice. Delegation solidly united for the candidate.

On the floor, Don King telling all who will listen ( and there are plenty) that the Democrats keep the black man down and the Republicans lift the black man up.

Rob Astorino, Westchester County Executive, arrived Tuesday night. He will be on the show today, stay tuned for details about the horrendous crane accident on the Tappan Zee Bridge. NY delegation friendly, thrilled to have their favorite son nominated tonight. Rep Pete King all smiles. I’m having breakfast with them Wed morning.

Lucked into the birdseye seat to watch the speeches, directly across the aisle from the Trump family and Pence and his wife. Mike Pence warmly greeting his old friends, but looks in shock that all this is happening to him. Trump kids attentive and focused. Eric Trump always friendly. has time for a greeting for me, because of a longstanding friendship in the family between him and my sister Jill Zarin, who is on the Executive Committee of Eric Trump foundation benefiting St Jude’s Hospital.

Chris Christie attacked like the prosecutor he is, "Guilty! Guilty! Guilty!" chants echoed on the tent plaza outside the Q arena. Ironic given his own problems with the law right now.

Donald Jr. speech best by far. Made the case to vote for his dad. Drew a contrast between Dem and Rep ideology . Explained that his dad operated on values of hard work and individual competency, not elite affiliations . Had the crowd energized and excited . Did a great job for the party and campaign.

The streets of downtown Cleveland are deserted day and night, save for security patrols on every corner and midblock.
