BRIARCLIFF, N.Y. - Incumbent Village Mayor William Vescio was re-elected in Tuesday's election.

Vescio easily defeated challenger Laura Morris, who ran as an independent. Vescio received 337 votes; Morris got 130. Vescio, a candidate of the People's Caucus of Briarcliff Manor, will serve his fifth term as village mayor.

He was pleased Tuesday night for the opportunity to serve the village again.

"I'm just thankful for the support that the residents have shown," he said.

Two seats on the Village Board of Trustees were up for election Tuesday. Incumbent Lori Sullivan and newcomer Mark Wilson ran uncontested. Sullivan received 407 votes and Wilson received 411. Wilson will replace Deputy Mayor David Venditti, who will step down April 1.

Howard Code ran uncontested for the position of village justice. He received 433 votes and will take over from Village Justice Fred Weinstein, who chose not to seek re-election.
