There were four candidates running for two seats. The two top vote getters will represent the Peoples Caucus in the general election in March.

The results are as follows: Total voters: 338: Mark Pohar (incumbent) 242, Cesare DeRose (incumbent) 256, Merrie Satran 92, Kim Izzarrelli 62.

Satran and Izzarelli were nominated at the Caucus nominating meeting two weeks ago by former Mayor Peter Chatzky. Both Satran and Izzarelli stated at the debate/Q & A last week that if they lost the Caucus election, they would run in the general elections as independents.

Stern was making closing comments and thanking all the candidates for participating, according to former Mayor Bill Vescio.

The People's Caucus forum was instituted by Briarcliff Manor's founder Walter Law to open elections for public office to all residents and to dissuade 'big party politics" from elections. It was intended to keep its focus on local issues.

In more than 112 years, less that a handful of Village officials have won in general elections by going outside the Caucus process.
