New York State Police troopers on patrol at approximately 3:40 a.m. on Friday morning stopped a 2017 Dodge Challenger driven by Cortlandt resident Christopher Johnson, 42, after he committed a vehicle and traffic law violation on Route 9.

During the subsequent traffic stop, troopers determined that Johnson was allegedly under the influence of alcohol and he was arrested. Further investigation into Johnson determined that his license had been suspended for a previous DWI conviction.

Johnson was charged with first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and driving while intoxicated with a previous conviction within 10 years, both felonies. Following arraignment, Johnson was remanded to the Westchester County Jail without bail. He is due back in Cortlandt Court later this year to answer the charges.
