OSSINING, N.Y. Two boys were hospitalized after Westchester County Police broke up an Ossining underage drinking party where alcohol, prescription painkillers and marijuana were found, police said.
Westchester County Police say they made two arrests and issued six summonses after responding to a large underage drinking party Thursday night at a home in Ossining. Between 50 and 60 youths attempted to flee when police arrived at the home just after midnight, said Police spokesman Kieran O'Leary, adding that several attempted to prevent officers from entering the property.
OLeary said officers seized multiple bottles of alcohol and cans of beer, and smaller quantities of marijuana and the prescription painkiller Vicodin. He added that several teens were found to be intoxicated and that an 18-year-old from Briarcliff Manor and a 17-year-old from Ossining were taken to Phelps Memorial Hospital Center. Their names were not released.
Police arrested the 17-year-old and Alex Anthony, 19, both of Ossining, and charged each with first-degree unlawfully dealing with a child, second-degree obstructing governmental administration, resisting arrest and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, all misdemeanors. The two also were charged with unlawful possession of alcohol by a person under 21, unlawful possession of marijuana and disorderly conduct, all violations.
The party occurred at the 17-year-old's home, OLeary said in a release, noting that the boy's parents were not at home at the time. In addition to the two arrested, six Ossining residents between the ages of 16 and 20 were issued summonses for unlawful possession of alcohol by a person under 21, OLeary said. All those charged are due in Ossining Town Court on July 31.
