Police Chief Norman Campion's retirement is effective on Dec. 31. Lt. Donald Gorey, who had been acting police chief during Campion's suspension will become the provisional police chief on Jan. 1.

Campion was suspended on Nov. 18 after the village decided to pursue disciplinary charges against him in August. The village negotiated a resolution with Campion but declined to disclose the reason for his suspension, citing New York Civil Right Law section-50a, which precludes officials from discussing police related discipline matters.
