Yorktown Police Ask For Public's Help In Knifepoint Robbery Investigation

YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- The Yorktown Police Department said the alleged robbery that occurred on Jan. 15 at Kmart remains an ongoing investigation.

Lt. Robert Noble said Tuesday that police don't have any new information about the suspect and are appealing to the public to help solve the crime. Anyone with information is asked to call Yorktown Police at 914-962-4141. 

Police describe the suspect  as being in his early 20s and a light-skinned black male. He is approximately 5-foot-8 and average weight with light pock marks on both cheeks, police said.

He was wearing a light gray parka-type jacket with tan fur around the hood and a black, beanie-type hat.

The victim, a woman, was sitting in her car when an unknown male opened her front passenger side door and sat inside the car, holding her at knifepoint and demanding money, police said.

The woman hesitated and the man cut her with a knife and ran off with money and a her cellphone, police said.

Police said the man made off with about $240.

The woman was treated at Hudson Valley Hospital Center and released, police said.
