Officer Mike Doyle, 34, was escorted by a large contingent of police units from West Haven, Conn., as well as Yonkers and other departments as he was moved from the Westchester Medical Center to the Gaylord Rehabilitation Center in Wallingford, Conn., said lohud.com.
Doyle was injured on June 22 as a group of officers from multiple police agencies were taking part in a training run on the Taconic Parkway when another vehicle began to merge from Bryant Pond Road onto the parkway, state police said.
As the vehicle attempted to merge, several of the motorcycles were forced to take evasive action, and two of the cycles struck each other, ejecting Doyle from his motorcycle onto the roadway, according to state police.
