Staff at the Bet Torah synagogue on Smith Avenue in Mount Kisco reported to Westchester County Police on Sunday that they had found two swastikas spray-painted on the wall of the nursery school.

Police said that the swastikas were approximately two-feet by two-feet in diameter and were spray painted adjacent to the playground that sits on the synagogue’s property. The area is accessible to the public both on foot and by vehicle.

According to police, the crime appears to have taken place late on Saturday night or overnight on Sunday morning. Detectives from the General Investigations Unit canvassed the neighborhood for several days, but have not found any witnesses or suspects.

The Westchester Human Rights Commission has since reached out to Bet Torah to express its concern about the incident and is offering assistance to those who desire it.

The case is currently under investigation and is being treated as a bias crime by Westchester County Police. Anyone with information on the anti-Semitic graffiti can contact police by calling the department’s tip line at 1-800-898-8477 or emailing tips@wccops.com.
