BRIARCLIFF MANOR, N.Y. -- A 26-year-old Briarcliff woman was arrested on drug charges after police in Westport, Conn., said they found her asleep at the wheel with a pound of meth in her car on Post Road East near Compo Road just after midnight Tuesday.
Noura Yousef was charged with sale of a controlled substance, operating under the influence, failure to drive in proper lane and failure to carry a license in the incident, police said.
Officers responding to a report of a disabled car found Yousef asleep in the car, which was in the travel lane, police said. They were able to wake up Yousef, who appeared to be disoriented and possibly under the influence of alcohol or drugs, police said.
Officers saw several glass pipes in plain view in the car as they interviewed Yousef, police said. The pipes observed are commonly used for smoking crack cocaine or other narcotic substances, police said.
Officers then searched the vehicle, and discovered a FedEx package with an object tightly wrapped inside it, police said. The wrapping was consistent with how narcotics are packaged, police said.
The package was transported to police headquarters, where it tested positive for methamphetamine and weighed one pound. Based on the amount of methamphetamine found in the vehicle, police are continuing to investigate the case.
Her bond was set at $26,000, and she is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 27.
