Ossining Police Chief Joseph Burton Announces Retirement

OSSINING, N.Y. – Ossining Police Chief Joseph Burton has announced his retirement from an almost 50-year police career, lohud.com is reporting.

Burton's last day on the job will be Dec. 31, according to lohud.

Burton, who was born in Yonkers, began his career in 1967. He became chief in 1991, lohud reported. 

Mayor Victoria Gearity said Burton's biggest contribution was helping reduce crime, according to lohud.
