YONKERS, N.Y. -- New York State Police from the Hawthorne barracks arrested 45-year-old Kelcio M. Sousa of Elmsford for aggravated driving while intoxicated and aggravated unlicensed operation in the first degree on Friday, Oct. 30, both Class E Felonies, police said.
Troopers were dispatched to a two-car auto collision that occurred on the Sprain Brook Parkway in the City of Yonkers. An investigation showed that the suspect was traveling northbound on the Sprain Brook Parkway when he failed to maintain his lane of travel and struck another northbound vehicle, according to the police. The suspect's vehicle then left the scene of the accident. Sousa, the driver of the fleeing vehicle, was subsequently located and found to be intoxicated.
Sousa was charged with Felony DWI when it was discovered that he was convicted of a DWI-related offense in 2015. He provided a positive breath sample that yielded a blood alcohol content of .22 percent and was released after posting station bail.
He was issued traffic tickets directing him to appear before the City of Yonkers Court on Monday, Nov. 2 at 9:30 a.m.
