The arrest stemmed from a prior case in which the defendant, identified as Jeremy V. Rodrigues, allegedly missed a scheduled court appearance in connection with a charge of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a class A misdemeanor, police report.

As a result of Rodrigues’ failure to appear, the bench warrant was issued Aug. 18, according to officials.

Rodrigues voluntarily surrendered himself to the Yorktown Police Department on Friday, Aug. 26, about 8:15 p.m., police report.

He was later arraigned, with bail set at $1,000, according to officials.

The defendant posted bail and is due back in Yorktown Justice Court on Thursday, Sept. 1, police report.
