Couple Charged In Attempt To Steal $3,000 In Merchandise At Kohl's

CORTLANDT, N.Y. – A Bronx man and a Massachusetts woman were arrested Monday for attempting to steal $3,000 worth of merchandise from Kohl's on Main Street in Cortlandt, according to the New York State Police.

Carlos C. Jessamy, 38, of the Bronx, and Erin F. Driscoll, 25, of Pittsfield, Mass., were charged with grand larceny in the third degree after an investigation revealed that Jessamy entered Kohl’s and filled two suitcases with more than $3,000 worth of assorted merchandise while Driscoll waited outside in a running vehicle, according to the report.

Jessamy was placing the suitcases in the 2004 Toyota SUV driven by Driscoll when state troopers arrived on scene. Jessamy fled from police on foot and re-entered Kohl’s before he was found hiding in an aisle and placed in custody, report officials.

Jessamy was additionally charged with criminal impersonation in the second degree and falsifying business records in the second degree, both misdemeanors, for giving police a fictitious name at the time of his arrest, according to police.

Jessamy and Driscoll were arraigned in the Town of Cortlandt Justice Court. Jessamy was held at Westchester County Jail without bail. Driscoll was held at Westchester County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail. Both defendants are due to return to court Friday, officials say.
