Anupam Biswas of Briarbrook Drive was charged in Briarcliff Village Court on one count of promoting an obscene sexual performance by a child, a Class D felony, and one count of possessing an obscene sexual performance by a child, a Class E felony.

Biswast is employed in the IT department of a foreign bank located in Newark, Scarpino said.

After a search warrant was executed at his home on Feb. 14, two external hard drives were removed by investigators, according to Scarpino.

An examination of those hard drives revealed thousands of images containing images of children under the age of 17 engaged in sexual performances and obscene acts, Scarpino said.

Biswast was arrested Wednesday at his home. Investigators with the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office were assisted by the Village of Briarcliff Manor Police.

Biswast pleaded not guilty and bail was set at $20,000 bond/$10,000 cash. He faces seven years in state prison.

His next court date is March 8.

This case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Michael Delohery, Chief of the High Technology Crime Bureau.
