Rita Bolduc, 80, Longtime Briarcliff Resident

BRIARCLIFF MANOR, N.Y. – Rita Savard Bolduc, a longtime resident of Briarcliff Manor, died Aug. 9 at Springvale Inn at Bethel in Croton-on-Hudson. She was 80.

Bolduc was born April 27, 1932, in St. Raymond, Quebec, Canada to Delphis and Donalda Lemieux Savard. She received a nursing diploma from l'Hopital de l'Enfant-Jesus in Quebec in 1953.

Following graduation, she traveled to Florida with a friend to work and eventually settled in New York. There, she met a fellow French-Canadian, Paul, at a party held at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel on Valentine's Day in 1957.

She married Paul Bolduc on Oct. 6, 1958 and the couple moved to Briarcliff Manor in 1972. Bolduc loved good food and her family. She was committed to her faith and especially enjoyed traveling to Canada every summer to her brother's lakeside retreat.

Bolduc is survived by her husband; two daughters, Louise, of Briarcliff Manor, and Johanne (Peter), of Foster City, Calif.; two brothers, Yvon (Beatrice) and Raymond (Ghislaine), both of Canada; two sisters, Liliane (Roger) and Rolande, both of Canada; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by four brothers, Marcel, Lionel, Lucien and Paul-Armand and a sister, Madeleine.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Thursday morning at St. Theresa's Church in Briarcliff Manor. Waterbury and Kelly Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Dominican Sisters Family Health Services in Ossining.
